President Trump says Mexico is sending a delegation to Washington D.C. to discuss immigration issues after he threatened to slap a five percent tariff on the country. The tariffs would begin on June 10 and increase by five percent each month before reaching 25 percent in October. If the tariffs go into effect, the White House says they would remain in place until Mexico addresses immigration issues. National Corn Growers Association President Lynn Chrisp is urging President Trump to rethink applying new tariffs on Mexican imports saying “amid a perfect storm of challenges in farm country, (corn farmers) cannot afford the uncertainty” that would bring.
