President Trump on Thursday tweeted support for the SNAP work requirements in the House farm bill. Democrats oppose the House provision saying it would lead to steep cuts in food stamps. Trump’s tweet also appeared to call for a lower threshold for advancing the farm bill by changing Senate rules to allow for just 51 votes, instead of the current 60 votes.
Senate ag committee chairman Pat Roberts indicates support for a SNAP compromise but there are no cuts in the Senate farm bill version.
