President Trump and Chinese president Xi have agreed to restart trade talks that stalled more than a month ago, and Trump says no new tariffs for now.
“We’re holding on tariffs, and they’re going to buy farm product.”
Trump called the meeting with his Chinese counterpart excellent and says purchases of U.S. ag goods will be ongoing throughout negotiations.
“They’re going to start that very soon, almost immediately. We’re going to give them lists of things that we’d like them to buy.”
Trump told reporters at the G20 Summit in Japan he’s totally open to a fair-trade deal, saying the two sides were once “very close but something happened where it slipped a little bit.”
