U.S. corn and soybean production declined from 2021 to 2022. That followed year-to-year reductions in planted area, harvested area, and yield for corn, along with a lower soybean yield, which canceled out increases in acreage.
Corn was reported at 13.729 billion bushels, down 9% on the year, with an average yield of 173.3 bushels per acre, 3.4 below the year ago record, and cuts in acreage. U.S. planted area was 88.579 million acres while harvested area was 79.207 million acres.
