National Pork Producers Council President Scott Hays says the transition phase is nearly complete for U.S. pork products to become compliant with California’s Proposition 12 law.
“Product that was harvested prior to July 1 can still flow into the system. What we’d be looking at now is frozen product.”
Hays says it’s been a slow process to meet the January 1 deadline and U.S. hog farmers are making tough decisions.
