United Arab Emirates dairy finds profit in making its own consumer products

The largest dairy operation in the United Arab Emirates stays profitable by making its own consumer products.  Dr. Ahmed El Tigani with Al Rawabi Dairy Company tells Brownfield it was hard to make a profit with his 14,000 cows until he got away from selling raw milk and started making products consumers wanted.  “The money’s not coming from the raw milk, it’s coming from the finished product to the consumers.  I started my brand name, and I avoided to compete with these big guys because my products are specialized products they are not producing.”

And, El Tigani says focusing on value-added health drinks such as a breakfast replacer and another that helps with joint pain and memory retention established a market other producers weren’t reaching and increased his profits.
