The Environmental Protection Agency has approved South Dakota’s request and farmers will have until June 20 to apply over-the-top dicamba to soybeans. South Dakota State University Extension Weed Science Coordinator Paul Johnson says farmers need to follow the label.
“We’re not following the directions. As long as that continues to happen, we’ll see more and more restrictions go on the product and we’ll see more people who are upset.”
Johnson says generic dicamba continues to be a restricted use product, and farmers are required to keep better application records.
