The Trump administration announced they will impose a 25% tariff
on some European ag goods later this month.
The World Trade Organization approved the annual $7.5
billion worth of tariffs to make up for damages done by European subsidies given
to aircraft manufacturer Airbus. Products that could be hit with the tariff include
cheese, butter, yogurt, pork and cherries.
The National Milk Producers Federation applauds the large
number of dairy products on the list, saying the US is running a $1.6 billion
dairy trade deficit with Europe because of blocked access to the EU market,
while the EU has enjoyed broad access to the US market.
