US crops still breaking delayed progress records

USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey says US crops continue to top

delayed progress records.

As of October 6th, only 58% of the US corn crop had reached maturity.

“That is a record during the last quarter century. The previous record was set in 2009.”

Rippey tells Brownfield the 7% of US corn that has not

reached the dented stage could be lost in the incoming freeze.

He says soybeans are also at a record slow pace with only 72% dropping leaves.
