The U.S. Cattlemen’s Association has asked USDA’s Food
Safety and Inspection Service to address “Product of the U.S.A.” and
“Made in the U.S.A.” claims on U.S. beef. The USCA says there’s a lack
of clear definitions for what constitutes a U.S. beef product since the repeal
of country-of-origin labeling (COOL) in 2015. The cattlemen’s organization says
imported cattle or beef that’s further processed or handled at USDA-inspected
facilities can be labeled a “Product of the U.S.”.
