The USDA says cash receipts from meat animals in 2018 totaled $88.203 billion, a slight increase from 2017. Cattle and calves accounted for 76% of the total, with hogs and pigs making up the remaining 24%. The cash value from cattle and calf marketings was $67.105 billion, while hog and pig cash receipts were worth $21.098 billion. Gross income of all meat animals was $88.662 billion, also up slightly on the year, and total production was 85.148 billion pounds, a 5% increase on the year.
