The USDA says Illinois and Iowa claimed the top spots in the Midwest for average per acre farm real estate and cropland values last year. Both values for both states averaged nearly $7,300 per acre, with Illinois taking the top spot for farm real estate and Iowa in the lead for cropland. Ohio claimed the highest pasture value per acre in the region, while Iowa had the highest value of farmland and buildings for the Midwest and the second highest in the U.S, just behind California.
