The USDA expects a record yield from this year’s spring wheat crop. As of July 1st, the yield is estimated at 47.6 bushels per acre, which would be up 6.6 on the year, with a crop of 613.970 million bushels, an increase of 48% from 2017. Harvested area for spring wheat is seen at 12.899 million acres, 27% higher than last year. For 2017, spring wheat totaled 416.236 million bushels with an average yield of 41 bushels per acre and harvested area of 10.159 million acres.
