A USDA official says the upcoming re-survey for planted acres will be done differently.
USDA State Statistician Greg Bussler tells Brownfield the planted acreage report that is being re-done because of the spring weather and late planting decisions will also utilize additional tools. “USDA is going to use for this crop report besides surveying farmers is satellite imagery and also FSA certified acres.”
And, he says there might be some confusion later this fall when farmers compare the planted corn acres to the harvested acres.
