The USDA has increased its outlooks for 2018 U.S. corn and soybean production.
Corn is currently projected at 14.827 billion bushels, up 2% from both the USDA’s August guess and the 2017 total with a record average yield of 181.3 bushels per acre. Ahead of the report, many analysts were expecting lower production and yield figures, with most citing anecdotal yields. Harvested area this year is expected to be 81.77 million bushels, 1% less than a year ago.
