The USDA’s Foreign Ag Service says New Zealand dairy production is expected to drop somewhat in 2023.
USDA says several factors will impact New Zealand producers including a slowly declining national herd, a weak New Zealand dollar raising on-farm inflation and impacting imported input prices, and high fuel prices. Some experts are also predicting a threepeat of the La Niña weather pattern that has brought prolonged dry conditions to more than 60% of their dairy region.
