The USDA says winter weather impacted some dairy markets during the past week.
The Agricultural Marketing Service’s latest report says the winter weather affected dairy operations in eastern states, and some milk intended for Class III cheese processing were redirected into bottling for grocery retailers. USDA says the weather also affected the central region where milk was readily available but some cheesemakers had to adjust their production schedules.
USDA says milk production is steady in the east region, strong in the northeast, and slightly lower in the Midwest where the winter storms moved through. The western region has steadily increased its milk production.
