USDA sees long-term improvement in milk prices

The USDA is projecting a $3.25 rise
in milk prices from 2018 levels and the milk supply to increase by 15 percent
over the next decade.

In the agency’s Long-term Projections
Report, USDA says by 2028 the all milk price could rise to $19.65 per hundredweight.

The milk herd is expected to remain
mostly steady, only adding 65,000 milking cows, with the average per cow
production up 14 percent to 26,530 pounds.
