The USDA is trying to keep a court decision regarding beef checkoff spending in Montana from expanding to thirteen more states.
R-CALF USA won an injunction in Montana against the beef checkoff claiming the government unconstitutionally required producers to fund the private speech of a private state beef council.
The USDA filed documents with the court saying R-CALF USA should have to file the case in multiple court jurisdictions instead of expanding the Montana ruling.
