The vice president of the National Farmers Union says
ratifying the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement would bring much needed certainty to
agriculture.
Speaking on a Minnesota Farmfest panel focused on ag policy Tuesday morning, Rob Larew said the Trump Administration is engaging Capitol Hill in an effort to find common ground on USMCA.
“From agriculture’s point of view, there’s so much uncertainty out there across all these markets. And the threats from the White House of pulling out of NAFTA if they can’t get a deal, those kinds of threats just continue to stress the importance of being able to find that common ground and work out the differences.”
He says while the biggest differences on USMCA are unrelated to agriculture, they do impact rural communities.
