USMCA signing brings certainty to pork producers

The signing of the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement will help settle a tumultuous time for pork producers. 

Southwest Minnesota pig farmer Terry Wolters says the time between the first tariffs on Canada and Mexico to now has been disruptive.

“Consequently we are harvesting more pigs in history than we ever have in the U.S. pork industry right now. And with all the volatility and uncertainty in that export market, it’s a little unnerving as a pork producer to know where that product is going to go.”

Speaking to Brownfield at Minnesota Pork Congress Tuesday, the Pipestone producer tells Brownfield volatility isn’t going to vanish.
