An agronomist says variability best describes Missouri’s crop season this year, “Based off of different planting date and different weather conditions and what has transpired over the course of the growing season,” says Jody Foutch with Dekalb/Asgrow.
Foutch says there’s a long way to go before shelling of June
planted corn, “I do think there was plenty of stress on that throughout the
growing season.”
Foutch tells Brownfield Ag News that Southern Rust got pretty aggressive, “It may have came in two or three growth stages ahead of pollination which just really gave it an opportunity to have a lot larger impact throughout the rest of the growing season.”
Foutch says that has led to stalk quality issues and harvestability issues.
