Variable rate manure application study

A farmer in southern Minnesota is experimenting with
variable rate manure application.

AJ Krusemark of Trimont says he’s in year two of a three-year study supported by the Minnesota Corn Growers.

“I’m working on analyzing the phosphorous content in manure, hog manure specifically. And the goal of the project is to develop the capability to apply hog manure in a variable rate environment, much like we do with commercial fertilizer.”

Unfortunately, he tells Brownfield the weather has not allowed them to try variable rate application the past two falls.
