The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture says the farm bill framework introduced in the House is a violation of a deal struck earlier this year.
Tom Vilsack says…
“People made a deal, and the deal was we’re going to increase the debt ceiling, but in exchange for that, we’re going to make some changes in SNAP, which would reduce the cost of SNAP.” He says, “We agree that there’ll be no further changes to SNAP from this point forward in this Congress.”
He says the House proposal currently caps the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
