Volatility tied to trade creates marketing challenges for pig farmers

A southern Minnesota pig farmer calls this an extremely difficult time for pork producers like her.

Wanda Patsche with C-W Pork in Welcome says recent volatility tied to trade disputes creates marketing challenges.

“We’re probably going to be selling hogs within the next two weeks.  Typically we look at seasonal highs this time of year, summer months usually produce those.  But I’m not really sure that’s going to happen this year.”

Being a wean-to-finish farm, Patsche tells Brownfield her family can’t wait around for higher prices.
