Governor-elect Tim Walz has named Minnesota Farmers Union government relations director Thom Petersen the next ag commissioner of Minnesota.
Walz says Petersen has been around agriculture his whole life and has traveled to every part of the state in his 16 years with MFU.
“He knows just how diverse our farm economy is here in our state, and actively works to lift up all voices.”
MFU president Gary Wertish says Petersen is well-versed in ag issues, policy, and the impact that programs have on family farms and rural communities.
