Across the Corn Belt, showers and a few thunderstorms stretch southwestward from the upper Great Lakes region. Meanwhile in the eastern Corn Belt, warm, mostly dry weather favors late-season corn and soybean planting efforts, as well as winter wheat development.
On the Plains, active weather prevails in advance of an approaching Pacific storm system. Early Tuesday, thunderstorms dot the central Plains, while rain showers and breezy conditions are overspreading Montana. In recent weeks, frequent showers have dented the Plains’ drought, with generally positive impacts on rangeland, pastures, winter wheat, and summer crops.
