Ohio pork producers are working with other livestock and
commodity groups to address water quality issues in the state.
Last year, former Governor John Kasich issued an executive
order that, if approved, would declare eight watersheds as distressed and place
nutrient management regulations on thousands of farms.
Many agricultural groups were concerned because they were
not invited to be part of the conversation,
Ohio Pork Council President Dave Shoup says the groups are working together so they can be part of the solution.
“We’re all about let’s get people from Ohio State and other universities and follow the research,” he says.
