The USDA says there were minor changes for broiler chicken egg sets and placements last week.
Sets of broiler type eggs into incubators were down slightly on the week at 238.922 million, but up modestly on the year, pointing towards near a near steady short-term supply of chicks. Average hatchability improved, while remaining just below 80%.
Placements of broiler type chicks into meat production were a little bit above the week before at 187.523 million head, but a bit below a year ago, leaving the consumer supply of broiler chickens starting in mid-February almost unchanged from the prior week.
