U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) and the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) say they are pleased with action taken by the USDA and U.S. Trade Representative on India’s price support programs for wheat and rice. At issue is India’s information reported to the World Trade Organization in the marketing years from 2010 through 2014. U.S. officials say India under-reported during that time.
The wheat groups say the first-of-its-kind counter-notification to the WTO Agriculture Committee is “an appropriate and welcome step” toward transparency from other countries.
