The executive director of the South Dakota Wheat Commission says the spring wheat and winter wheat are off to a good start.
Jonathan Kleinjan says the spring wheat progress varies in the state.
“It varies from emergence to the three or four leaf stage.”
He says the winter wheat condition is good.
“To me, it’s the best looking winter wheat crop we’ve had in years.”
Kleinjan says there’s some rain in the forecast and disease is always a concern for wheat when conditions are damp.
