Soybeans were modestly higher on short covering and technical buying, closing near the middle of the day’s range. The USDA was expected to report mixed, but slow overall, planting progress in the weekly numbers. As of Sunday, 39% of U.S. soybeans were planted, compared to the five-year average of 79%, and 19% has emerged, compared to 56% on average.
