There are concerns in some
corners that the impeachment inquiry in the House could overshadow work on the US
Mexico Canada Agreement.
President Trump said
Wednesday he is unsure if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will have time to sign the
agreement because of the inquiry.
Iowa Republican Senator Chuck
Grassley says he believes the USMCA process will continue as planned. But he
says if Democrats let the inquiry impact the trade deal then they are “more
interested in politics than policy.”
House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal, a Democrat from Massachusetts, says the committee will “proceed with optimism” on the USMCA.
