Wisconsin’s Farm Bureau President told the Assembly Speaker’s Water Quality Task Force farmers also want to protect water and other resources. Jim Holte testified last week at the Water Quality Task Force hearing organized by Speaker Robin Voss. Holte says, “Farmers are stewards of the land and are continuously improving their methods. Secondly, farmers support research. Thirdly, farmers are committed to participating in this regulatory process, and lastly, the ongoing need for scientific studies.”
He says farming practices have evolved, and farmers now harvest more corn using less fertilizer and pest management products while improving soil and water health.
