A northwestern Wisconsin farmer says so far, crops are doing well despite the dry summer. Ben Augustine raises about 475 acres of soybeans, 800 acres of corn for grain, and another 550 acres of corn for silage. “We’ll have a pretty good yield of corn this year. Beans? Overall, most of it looks pretty good. White mold came in here in a number of fields. Beans are starting to turn. We wrapped up our hay last week, and corn silage is fast approaching.”
Augustine says he’s about 10 days away from chopping silage, but many farmers west and south of him are already getting silage in the bunkers.
