Wisconsin’s honey producers had a much more productive 2022 than in 2021. USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service says honey producers with five or more colonies produced 2.92 million pounds of honey last year, far ahead of 2021’s 1.97 million pounds.
USDA also says Wisconsin had more bees in 2022 with 53-thousand colonies, 11 thousand more than the previous year.
Yield per colony was also up from 47 pounds in 2021 to 55 pounds in 2022.
