Wisconsin’s proposed lemon law for agricultural equipment is getting a public hearing Tuesday before the State Senate Agriculture & Tourism Committee.
The bill’s Senate author, Andre Jocque from DePere says several farmers have talked to him about expensive machinery that has been back to the dealer for warranty work several times. “Anytime that you are repeatedly having to bring something that’s under warranty back in for service again and again and again and again, every time you do that, you’re really taking a very valuable investment out of the field.”
Jacque says other states including Illinois and Minnesota already have a similar law and Wisconsin has had a lemon law for cars and trucks since the 1980’s.
