The trend of having fewer farms continued in Wisconsin last year. The USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service says the state had 64,100 farms which was down 300 from 2020.
USDA says the amount of land in farms was 14.2 million acres in 2021, which was about 100-thousand fewer acres than in 2020. The report says there are still far more small to medium-sized Wisconsin farms with under 100-thousand dollars in sales and fewer than three thousand acres but there are 200 more farms with over 500-thousand dollars in sales and more than 745 acres.
