When it comes to rife media and talking head speculation that China and the U.S. will continue their tariff wars indefinitely, that NAFTA 2.0 will succumb to an 11th-hour breakdown, that House and Senate conferees won’t hit their September 30 deadline to get a reconciled Farm Bill to the president, or that the House and/or Senate party control will flip, forget about it. Too much is unknown, too much is unpredictable. Such dire predictions do more to sell newspapers and air time than they do to inform the underlying process or the public.
