Hayden Hall, a 21-year-old from Davis, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree manslaughter, and ingestion of a controlled substance (cocaine) in a motor vehicle.
The charges stem from a December crash near Beresford that resulted in the deaths of three passengers: Gerard Muller, 20, of Parker; Kaydence Nygaard, 19, of Beresford; and Collin Hlavac, 18, of Irene.
The vehicle, driven by Hall, left the roadway, went airborne, and rolled, killing the passengers who were not wearing seatbelts. Hall fled the scene but was later located and taken to a hospital.
The investigation involved forensic analysis of cell phones, vehicle event data recorder, and DNA evidence.
Hall faces a mandatory life sentence if convicted of second-degree murder.
