A 22-year-old man from Pierre was captured by law enforcement after leading them on a high-speed pursuit through Pierre on a Saturday night around 11 p.m.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop a 2011 GMC Terrain, but the driver refused to halt, triggering a chase that coursed through the city of Pierre. Charges are currently pending.
During the pursuit, the suspect collided with a Pierre Police Department vehicle at one point. Following the collision, he fled on foot but was swiftly apprehended.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The matter remains under investigation, with the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the Pierre Police Department, and the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office all involved in the response.
