A fatal traffic collision occurred in Sioux Falls, where a 50-year-old man, identified as Byron Cardona, lost his life after being struck by a school bus.
The incident took place at the intersection of West 12th Street and Garfield Avenue around 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday.
The bus, heading west on 12th Street, made a left turn to go south on Garfield Avenue, colliding with the pedestrian crossing the street.
Emergency personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Sioux Falls Police Department has closed the affected road section for investigation, and it is estimated to take four to six weeks to complete.
Authorities are also seeking surveillance footage from nearby businesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
