Aberdeen City Manager provides context for water notice

Aberdeen City Manager Joe Gaa spoke towards the end of the Aberdeen City Council meeting Monday night and addressed the water notice released last week by the city.

Gaa tried to provide context for the warning saying it looks worse than it is.

Aberdeen released a statement last week saying its drinking water and the water treatment plant violated a drinking water requirement.

According to the release, normal turbidity levels at the plant are 0.2 turbidity units. A sample taken on June 10th showed 5.35 turbidity units.

Because of high levels of turbidity, there is an increased chance the water may contain disease-causing organisms.

Residents were advised boiling is not necessary, but those with severely compromised immune systems, pregnant women and elderly were advised to speak with a healthcare provider regarding water consumption.
