Aberdeen Police Offer $1,000 Reward for Hit-and-Run Driver Who Injured Children on Bicycles

The Aberdeen Police Department has announced a $1,000 reward for anyone providing information leading to the arrest of a hit-and-run driver responsible for injuring two children on bicycles.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:27 p.m. on Friday night when the children were crossing 6th Ave. SE at the intersection with S. State St. within a crosswalk.

A dark-colored Chevrolet pickup, traveling east on 6th Ave SE, ran a red light and struck the two children on their bicycles.

One child suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Aberdeen police are seeking assistance from the public to identify both the vehicle and the driver, described as a dark 2007-2013 Chevrolet pickup with specific features, including a louder exhaust, tinted windows, and potential chrome trim accents on the side.

The vehicle has noticeable damage to the front left bumper, and the driver’s side mirror is missing.

Authorities are urging business owners along the 6th Ave. corridor and nearby residents to review their security camera footage for any vehicle matching this description.

Police have shared a video depicting the suspect vehicle at a different location before the incident occurred.
