Aberdeen police were dispatched to the 500 block of S State St. on Thursday afternoon in response to a man swinging a machete towards bystanders.
As authorities arrived, nearby businesses and a school were instructed to lock down.
The individual was located and, after refusing to surrender, was subdued by a bean bag shotgun.
Charged with Aggravated Assault and other offenses, he was taken to the hospital and will be transported to jail.
Multiple agencies, including the Aberdeen Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the incident.
