On Monday, Aberdeen police arrested a registered sex offender on multiple charges, including kidnapping, burglary, rape, possession of child pornography, and sexual contact with a minor.
The incident began when a concerned citizen reported a suspicious vehicle near a park in a housing development. When officers arrived, the vehicle fled, leading to a search that eventually uncovered a juvenile victim at another location.
The investigation revealed a possible sexual assault, and the suspect was later found hiding in a garage.
The 30-year-old male, who was already on probation, attempted to escape again but was swiftly apprehended. The victim was identified as someone the suspect had met online.
During the arrest, an officer suffered a leg injury and was taken to a local hospital.
