Arrest Made in Sioux Falls Downtown Gunshots Incident, More Shooters Unclear

Sioux Falls Police has arrested a 30-year-old resident, Tyrees Washington, in connection with gunshots heard in the downtown area this past weekend.

Responding to reports of shots fired early Saturday morning, police found Washington in a nearby parking garage, where he dropped a firearm and attempted to flee.

He faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm while intoxicated and possession of drug-related items.

While shell casings and additional firearms were found at the scene, it remains uncertain if there were more than one shooter or what led to the gunfire.

Washington could face up to six years in jail and fines of up to $12,500 if convicted. He also has a separate pending criminal case.
