Authorities in Vermillion are investigating a reported sexual assault near the University of South Dakota campus.
On Sunday morning, at 5:45 a.m., the Vermillion Police Department received a call regarding the incident.
The assault occurred on Pine Street, south of Cherry Street, where an unknown man approached a woman, physically assaulted her, and engaged in sexual contact without her consent.
The suspect, described as approximately six feet tall and wearing a hoodie and pants, remains at large.
Notably, the victim is not a USD student, but the university issued a notification to all students and staff due to the proximity of the incident to the campus.
This incident is unrelated to any previous sexual assault notifications issued by the university in recent weeks.
