Bail Denied for Rapid City Man Charged with First-Degree Murder

Bail has been denied for Michael Flores, a 32-year-old Rapid City man charged with first-degree murder for killing a man near the Cornerstone Rescue Mission on Thursday morning.

Flores made his initial court appearance Friday via live stream from the Pennington County Jail.

Prosecutors argued against setting bond, citing Flores as a flight risk due to his parole status for prior offenses, including assaulting law enforcement officers and possession of a controlled substance.

Judge Sarah Morrison agreed with the prosecution and denied bond, keeping Flores in jail as his case proceeds to trial.
