At 48 years old, Kogel had served as a firefighter for more than two decades, leaving behind a family of two children and two stepchildren.
The incident occurred when he suffered a medical emergency during the firefighting operation.
The fire, which raged in scorching 100-degree temperatures, resulted in the complete destruction of three buildings at Hurd Alignment & Service.
